Minority Association of Pre-Medical Students Conference
Sat, January 30 2016 - 8:30 am
Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences
Undergraduate college students who are members of groups currently underrepresented in medicine are invited to visit Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences to learn more about medical school during the annual Minority Association of Pre-Medical Students conference on Saturday, Jan. 30.
The conference is free for students and will run from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
“By exposing Oklahoma's undergraduate students to a career in medicine and preparing them for application to medical school, we hope to encourage and inspire the physicians of tomorrow,” said second-year medical student and conference organizer Brittany Bolt. “It is our mission to provide information and opportunities to all students, especially those who are underrepresented in this field.”
Participants will have the opportunity to tour campus, learn about the medical school admissions process, participate in mock interviews, view anatomy lab demonstrations and talk with local physicians. Continental breakfast and lunch will be provided.
An initiative of the Student National Medical Association, MAPS works to promote diversity in all aspects of medicine and patient care. The Office for the Advancement of American Indians in Medicine and Science is co-hosting the event with MAPS.
