The Center for Sovereign Nations at Oklahoma State University’s Stillwater campus will host events to educate and promote tribal sovereignty and culture. Events are slated for Tuesday, April 10, to commemorate Native American Awareness Week.

Sovereign Stance student talks are 11:45 a.m.-12 p.m., at the Chi O Clock. Center students will be on-hand to talk with OSU students, faculty, staff and visitors about tribal sovereignty and culture.

Afterward, the center will welcome Valorie Walters, Executive Officer of the Chickasaw Cultural Center in Sulphur, Okla., to its 19th Sovereignty Speaks© luncheon. Walters will speak on culture as an exercise of tribal sovereignty from 12-1 p.m., in the French Lounge of the OSU Student Union (room 270). Walters oversees day-to-day operations of the Cultural Center and the Ada Tribal Library. She serves on the Board of Directors of the Oklahoma Museums Association and the Oklahoma Humanities Board of Trustees. The center will end the day with a reception at 1 p.m., at 105 Life Sciences East. Click here to register for Sovereignty Speaks©. Email us for questions and more information.
