Indigenous Peoples' Day Tribal Jurisdictions Map Recreation

Mon, October 09 2017 - 12:00 pm
Life Sciences East Lawn

In Spring 2017, OSU Student Government Association (SGA) passed a resolution that Monday, October 9th would be recognized as Indigenous Peoples Day on campus.

To celebrate this occasion, the Native American Student Association (NASA) invites you to help us set a record.

With support from Arts and Sciences Student Council, American Indian Studies (AMIS), the Center for Sovereign Nations (CSN), Office of Multicultural Affairs (OMA), Student Affairs, and Student Government Association (SGA), we will join together to try to set the record for recreating the largest tribal jurisdiction/state of Oklahoma map.

You can help us by joining us on the Life Sciences East Lawn on Monday, October the 9th at Noon.

If you think of the map as a huge puzzle, we need 100 people to help us by each lifting up a poster board “piece” of the puzzle. This will be a great way to illustrate that Oklahoma is home to 38 federally recognized sovereign tribal nations, the indigenous people who are citizens of those nations, as well as many others who are friends.

The first 100 people who join us will receive a t-shirt. Please help us set this record!

If you have any questions, please email NASA at
