CNHE provides grants to Comanche students to attend post-secondary institutions/colleges and universities while pursuing a bachelor's degree or a two-year program which will transfer to a four-year program. In order to qualify for an award, a student must be an enrolled member of the Comanche Nation; be a high school graduate or possess a GED certificate; be approved for admission by the college; show a financial need; and provide a letter of intent assuring success in completing a 4-year college degree program. Funding is from the Bureau of Indian Affairs Office of Indian Education Program referred to as P.L. 92-638 & Comanche Nation Gaming. Any tribal member of the Choctaw Nation actively pursuing a higher education degree may apply to receive assistance in the form of a scholarship or grant payable directly to an accredited college or university. The 2017 Chickasaw Nation Annual Meeting and Festival will begin Friday, September 29, and culminate with Governor Bill Anoatubby’s State of the Nation Address, along with a variety of activities and demonstrations at the Chickasaw National Capitol in Tishomingo Saturday, October 7. Attendees will enjoy a week-long celebration that includes a Cultural Evening, Annual Meeting, cultural events, entertainment, fellowship and more. Chickasaw citizens can get connected to Chickasaw Nation careers at the Coffee and Careers citizen hiring event. Employment seeking citizens are encouraged to attend Tuesday, Sept. 26, from 1–4 p.m., at the Carl Albert Service Center located at 1001 N Country Club Road in Ada. Citizens can apply for a wide array of positions with the Chickasaw Nation from entry level to management. Hiring managers will be on-site to meet with candidates, conduct interviews and answer questions. Positions in education, health care, human resources, casino operations, information technology and more will be offered. Refreshments will be provided. Citizens can also learn more about working with Chickasaw Nation recruiters who can assist them on their career path. Candidates are asked to bring a driver’s license, Social Security card and CDIB. This event is designed to aid OSU students in their job search by providing the opportunity to practice and improve interview skills through meeting with experienced recruiters. Interviews are scheduled in 30 minute intervals. The first 20 minutes will include an interview experience, followed by a 5-10 minute critique period. Professional dress is expected, and all interviews will be held in 360 Student Union on the OSU-Stillwater campus.
