In 2004, Lisa Johnson-Billy was elected to the Oklahoma House of Representatives in District 42. She is the first Native American and woman elected from this district. She serves as a Floor Leader and co-chair of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Public Safety. She also serves on Budget, Joint Appropriations, Criminal Justice, and Corrections committees.
In 2006, Lisa initiated the first Oklahoma Native American Caucus and served as the first co-chair for the bi-partisan caucus. Prior to her election to the Oklahoma Legislature, Lisa served six years as a legislator for the Chickasaw Nation, and she has recently been reelected!
Chickasaw Nation 'Dynamic Woman of the Year,' Girl Scouts of the USA 'Woman of Distinction,' 'Legislator of the Year,' and she has been inducted into the Chickasaw Nation Hall of Fame. Lisa and her husband, Philip, have three children: sons Masheli and Nahinli, and a daughter, Anoli.
